Spirit of Saginaw Award

Ellen Crane received the 2010 Spirit of Saginaw Award. This award is given to individuals who are seen as best exemplifying the Spirit of Saginaw by the service that they have volunteered to improve the quality of life and/or economic climate of Saginaw County. Asking people for money is never easy, especially during one of the dreariest economic periods in history, but Ellen Crane said she didn’t let that stop her from leading two successful United Way of Saginaw County fundraising campaigns.

“I believe so passionately the dollars donated to United Way are used so effectively that it wasn’t hard asking,” Crane said. “United Way is always a smart investment.” Crane said that the Firm has fostered and encouraged community involvement since she started in 1995. She was involved with the United Way of Saginaw County for more than a decade before she took on the role as chairwoman of the annual campaign in 2008 and in 2009. In those two years, she helped raise more than $5.1 million.
